About Jadeite Jade

Jade was thought to be a single gemstone for a long time, but in 186 two types were recognised: Jadeite Jade and Nephrite Jade. Both lustrous green stones are harder than steel, and other than being used as jewellery, Jade was also used as tools and ornaments. However, Jadeite Jade is far rarer than Nephrite Jade because of its colour, durability and rarity.

Jadeite Jade, known as "Fei Cui" in mandarin, is a prized fine gemstone that has been cherished by many cultures, including the Chinese and Central Americans, for aeons. The most important source of jadeite jade is Burma (now known as Myanmar). The country has been supplying the Chinese Emperor with the finest Jadeite - the most precious Imperial Jade for centuries. As a March birthstone, Jadeite is commonly believed to bring luck, good health and spiritual well-being to its owners.

Despite being most famous for its rich emerald green, jadeite jade can be found in various shades, including apple green, yellow-green, violet purple, oranges, white, and black.

In JL Heart, our snow jade, lavender Jade, and apple green jade are designed to elevate the versatility of the Jade and easily transition into modern, wearable fine jewellery.
